‘I lost 100lbs taking weight loss drug – people say I’m cheating but I’m proud of myself’

A 34-year-old woman from Chicago, Illinois, has stunned many with her incredible weight loss journey, shedding a remarkable 100lbs.
However, her transformation has not been without controversy as critics accuse her of taking the “easy way out” by using ozempic-type weight loss injections.
Amy’s struggle with weight began early in life when she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) at the age of 13.
Despite facing challenges due to her condition, she managed to lose 70lbs through sheer determination and a complete overhaul of her diet, cutting out daily takeaways and processed meals.

But when her weight loss progress stalled, Amy turned to Mounjaro, an antidiabetic weight loss injection, and saw further significant results, dropping an additional 100lbs over eight months.
Now weighing a healthy 135lbs, Amy is proud of her achievement, even in the face of criticism.
Amy says: “People tell me that I am cheating and that I shouldn’t be proud of myself, but I am proud of how far I have come. I have struggled with my weight my whole life. The only thing I found that worked was to stop eating, which wasn’t healthy.”

Covered by her health insurance, the medication not only aided in her physical transformation but also provided mental relief, particularly in managing the relentless thoughts about food associated with PCOS.
Amy said: “I have had to do a lot of hard work to get where I am. Every day I am told that I have cheated and taken the easy way out, but even though I am at a healthy weight, I don’t have any plans to get off it.”
Amy’s daily routine now revolves around mindful eating and regular exercise, a far cry from her previous habits of indulging in processed foods and takeaways.
Her meals now include a variety of nutritious options.
Reflecting on her journey, Amy expressed empathy for her former self, acknowledging the lack of self-love and confidence she once endured.
She said: “I feel bad for her because I question why she wasn’t treated the same. Why didn’t she love herself as much as I do now?”
